Loading

In just three days, ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ has already exceeded the entire box office run of the last MCU movie, The Marvels. The anticipation from fans, comic-accurate costumes, and exceptional marketing strategies have certainly contributed to the success of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ but the true factor behind its achievement lies in the story itself.

Be warned, this review contains spoilers.

Beware of the spoilers!

In “Deadpool & Wolverine,” Deadpool travels through the multiverse to find a version of Wolverine to save his timeline. They team up to fight Cassandra Nova, who plans to destroy the multiverse.

The Best Superhero Movie Intro Ever

The best superhero movie intro ever

When we walked into the movie theater, there’s a lot of questions going on in our minds. But the most prominent question is: are they going to undo Logan’s death through time travel? And they answered the question immediately as the movie started.

Not the same Wolverine from ‘Logan’

Thankfully, the answer is they don’t. They handled Logan’s death respectfully. Well, the same thing can’t be said for Deadpool because he used Logan’s adamantium skeleton to murder a group of TVA hunters brutally while dance to ‘Bye Bye Bye’ by *NSYNC.

The intro was hilarious, gory, and it definitely sets the mood for the audience!

Character’s Depth

From enemies…

The movie is hilarious and gory. However, the story is still balanced by the character development by both Deadpool and Wolverine.

Deadpool was rejected from joining the Avengers in the Sacred Timeline. For years, he felt unneeded and unworthy. He retired from being Deadpool and became a car salesman.

As for Wolverine, he is the worst variant of his kind. He cowardly ran from an attack that killed his X-Men members. He spent years living in guilt.

…to comrades

The movie focuses on the characters’ dynamic. Deadpool lied to Wolverine to get what he wanted and Wolverine insulted Deadpool to cover his insecurities. But in the final act, both of them are willing to sacrifice for each other to save the multiverse.

Appropriate Cameos

I wonder who could possibly be playing Ladypool

Yes, this movie is a cameo fest but it didn’t feel like lifeless fan-service at all. Every cameo fits into the narrative and doesn’t feel forced.

Happy Hogan gave Deadpool a speech on how to be a better hero. Chris Evan and Jennifer Garner hilariously redeemed their underappreciated Human Torch and Elektra roles. Channing Tatum’s return was a nod to his canceled Gambit movie. Wesley Snipe was there to hilariously mock Marvel for keeping delaying the new Blade movie starring a new actor. And finally, Dafne Keen was back as Laura to get Wolverine back on his fighting spirit.

If only there was a clue during the premiere

In short, the cameos are well done and very entertaining!

Indisputable Chemistry

Not just the actors

We’re not just talking about Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman who were already good friends prior to the movie. But their chemistry with the director, Shawn Levy was also amazing.

Hugh and Shawn worked together in ‘Real Steel’ while Ryan and Shawn worked together in ‘Free Guy’ and ‘The Adam Project’. In fact, Ryan Reynolds personally handpicked Shawn Levy to direct ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’.

An interview with Variety

In an interview with Variety, Shawn and Ryan said that they once received a 17-minute voice memo from Hugh where he pitched his ideas for the movie.

We’re looking at more than a movie here – this is the result of a well-established friendship and commitment.

Conclusion

How it feels to walk out of the theater hall

“Deadpool & Wolverine” delivers everything fans hoped for and more, with a perfect blend of humor, action, and heartfelt moments. The film excels in its character development, engaging story, and well-executed cameos, making it a standout entry in the superhero genre. The chemistry between Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and director Shawn Levy shines through, creating a movie that is both entertaining and meaningful.

Considering this movie’s maximum effort, we’ll rate “Deadpool & Wolverine” as 10 out of 10! A truly perfect superhero movie!
