AFK Journey was a game produced through a wonderful collaboration of Lilith Games and FARLIGHT. This ethereal fantasy RPG game with over 40 heroes to be chosen from for a party of 5 characters allows the user to experience a journey full of lore discovery, choices to be made, and action in fighting and gameplay. The player can also leave it unattended as an idle game and come back to claim the rewards from the AFK function provided.
The Adapted Fairytale: Game Storyline
Playing as the character called Magister Merlin whose memories remain fussy due to an amnesiac state from when you lost your powers, you keep dreaming about past events you cannot recall. After you remain secluded in the Mystical House, you will be asked to choose and customize your new appearance and take up a new identity.
Being left clueless about my own character’s identity and mysterious past, I had to embark on a journey to help people along with adorable hamsters as familiars. It is an interesting experience playing as “Merlin”. I get to meet many different characters which can be collected later on to be used in combat and storyline.
The Selling-point
Even though many of you might not like to see another gacha game on the market, AFK Journey could be your comfort game as well. The developers gave away around 60 free pull early games through daily log-in.
You can also get free heroes from the “Free Login Reward: All-Hero” if you are able to log in daily. If you want to collect all of them, this might be just the thing that will catch your interest. “Gotta catch them all” is a catchphrase from another gacha addict like me.
Putting that lame joke aside, this game has this particular thing that I love from the game the “Resonating Hall”. To put this in simpler terms, you just need to level up 5 heroes to the highest level possible and that will also level up other heroes you got while playing the game.
In other words, if the lowest level of your five highest-level heroes is 70, the resonance level which was set at level 70 will also bring up your other characters to that level. As stated in the game, the rules were simple:
- Upon unlocking the Resonating Hall, your 5 highest level heroes will become the Hands of Resonance. Other heroes who are higher than level 1 will have their levels reset, and all the resources used to level them up will be fully returned.
- The Resonance Level is determined by the lowest level member of the 5 Hands of Resonance. All Resonance Heroes owned by you will be levelled up to this level.
- Only Hands of Resonance can be levelled up.
- You can change the heroes in the Hands of Resonance at any time.
- The level of Hands of Resonance members cannot exceed the Resonance Level by more than ten levels.
This would make the process of building up the characters easier compared to other games. You don’t have to worry about gathering the materials while being offline as the AFK reward can be claimed for free. If you are still confused, do drop by the game’s official YouTube channel. In addition, the game also gives you one free envelope for character wishes every time you open a chest.
Verdict
For someone busy working or studying and looking for a casual game to play, this game would be the perfect distraction for your free time. Learning about the storyline which was adapted from a famous story, Merlin, the developers managed to publish a game with a twist of their own to the lore.
The game feels smooth and not as heavy as the other gacha games I have been playing until now. The characters’ dialogue exchange feels like I’m reading a book or watching a new series. The graphics were also pretty decent and beautiful and it was a feast for the eyes.
The freedom to only level up 5 main characters to level up other characters is definitely the selling point! I saved up time in building up characters, unlike nobody’s business.
The game is highly recommended especially if you are someone interested in trying new games, or you have never tried any mobile games and wish to play something new, please do try looking for this game in your AppStore/PlayStore.
