Spider-Man has been making waves online after being spotted filming in public. The return of the classic suit — no more nanotech, just the good old bulging web-shooters — has fans buzzing. But one question dominates the internet: What could the plot of this movie be? I think I have a pretty good idea.
Based on the Title
Following the trend of this year’s Superman and Fantastic Four: First Step, the industry clearly knows fans are craving comic accuracy. I believe Marvel is leaning in that direction here too.
In the comics, “Brand New Day” was an era that came right after “One More Day.”
In One More Day, Peter Parker had revealed his secret identity to the public during Civil War to support the Superhuman Registration Act. This backfired horribly, and to fix it, he made a deal with Mephisto to erase everyone’s memory of his identity.
The MCU version isn’t identical, but the core idea is similar: Mysterio exposed Peter, and Doctor Strange made everyone forget who he was.
If the movie follows the comic’s “Brand New Day” pattern, we can expect Peter to be single, alone, broke, miserable, and working as a freelance photographer.
Most importantly, the Brand New Day era also introduced one of Spider-Man’s most notable modern villains: Mister Negative.
Mister Negative in the Comics
In the comics, Mister Negative runs the FEAST Project (Food, Emergency Aid, Shelter & Training), a homeless shelter where Aunt May volunteers. This element exists in the MCU too.
However, his public image hides a dark truth: he is secretly the leader of the Chinatown-based gang known as the Inner Demons, and he has the ability to corrupt anyone he touches — even turning heroes against their morals.
If the title is any indication, Mister Negative could be the film’s main villain.
Based on the Confirmed Cast
While Mister Negative hasn’t been confirmed (yet), here’s the official cast list so far:
- Tom Holland as Peter Parker / Spider-Man
- Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner / Hulk
- Zendaya as Michelle Jones
- Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle / Punisher
- Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds
- Michael Mando as Mac Gargan / Scorpion
That’s enough to start piecing together a possible plot.
My Plot Prediction
Peter Parker is alone and miserable after the events of No Way Home. He works as a freelance photographer for The Daily Bugle. Being Spider-Man is harder than ever because vigilantism is still illegal in New York — and Kingpin remains the mayor.
At the same time, Spider-Man and the Punisher have been hitting Mister Negative’s criminal operations hard.
Meanwhile, Scorpion is released from prison. Wanting revenge on Spider-Man, he gets hired by Mister Negative.
Peter lands an assignment to cover Bruce Banner for the Bugle, leading to an unexpected mentorship between the two.
Michelle Jones and Ned Leeds — now MIT students — are also working on a project with Banner, sparking a possible reunion with Peter.
Scorpion attacks the lab, stealing Banner’s tech and donning a comic-accurate Scorpion suit. In the chaos, Mister Negative corrupts Bruce Banner, turning him into the Hulk and unleashing destruction on New York.
Spider-Man must save both Banner and the city, while also clashing with Punisher over his violent methods. In the end, Punisher spares Scorpion and Mister Negative out of respect for Spider-Man, ensuring they’re sent to prison.
Post-Credit Scene (Wishful Thinking): Daredevil meets Spider-Man, delivers the legendary line, “I’m putting together a team,” and sets up a Kingpin showdown in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. Sadly, Sony-Marvel contracts probably make this impossible — but hey, a man can dream.
Conclusion
While nothing is confirmed plot-wise, the title, comic history, and cast list all point toward a street-level Spider-Man story — one that could introduce Mister Negative, test Peter’s morals, and mix grounded crime drama with superhuman stakes.
