Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – February 5, 2025 – The Ministry of Digital Malaysia, in collaboration with Google Cloud, today unveiled “AI at Work 2.0,” an enhanced initiative to equip 445,000 public officers with cutting-edge generative AI (gen AI) tools through Google Workspace. This initiative builds on the success of the pilot program launched in December 2024, aiming to revolutionize public service delivery and drive Malaysia’s digital transformation.
Key Highlights of AI at Work 2.0
- Expanded Access: Public officers will gain access to the Gemini suite of tools within Google Workspace, enabling seamless integration of gen AI into daily tasks.
- Enhanced Productivity: Tools like Gemini in Gmail, Docs, Sheets, and Meet will assist with content creation, meeting summaries, and data analysis, saving time and improving efficiency.
- Innovative Communication: Google Vids, a gen AI-powered video app, will help agencies create engaging explainer videos and training materials without specialized skills.
- Advanced Research and Decision-Making: NotebookLM Plus will allow officers to synthesize insights from up to 250 trusted sources, streamlining policy analysis and citizen responsiveness.
- Dedicated Training: Customized workshops will ensure officers maximize the potential of these tools, focusing on effective prompting and real-world applications.

Proven Impact of AI
The pilot phase, involving 270 officers, achieved remarkable results:
- 97% of participants saved an average of 3.25 hours per week.
- 91% reported improved work quality through gen AI assistance.

Google Workspace with Gemini adheres to stringent global standards, including SOC 1/2/3, ISO 27001/17/18, and ISO 42001, ensuring data security and privacy for all users.
Looking Ahead
AI at Work 2.0 aligns with Malaysia’s five-year AI technology action plan and Google’s US$2 billion investment in local infrastructure, including a new data center and Cloud region. Additional skilling initiatives, such as Gemini Academy and Google AI Essentials, further support Malaysia’s ambition to become a regional AI leader.
